Before breakfast came out of a box, it came out of a kitchen like this — a fistful of ragi from one tin, a spoon of horse gram from another, wheat, jowar and millet ground together with whatever pulses, nuts and seeds the season allowed. Dr. S. S. Shinde's Grainora is that same fistful, formalised: twenty ingredients, nothing shortened, blended the way it would be at home if someone had the time to source all twenty. Two to three tablespoons stirred into a slurry, brought into 150–200 ml of boiling water and cooked down to a smooth porridge — finished with jaggery for a sweet bowl, or salt and curd for a savoury one. Traditional nutrition, the label calls it, for a brighter tomorrow — nourished naturally, every day.
